Rafael Méndez Soler, 63, passed away on January 31, 2026.  He was born on May 21, 1962, in San Sebastián Puerto Rico.  Rafael was raised by his mother, Monserrate Garcia, and maternal grandparents, the late Diego Soler and Carmen Guerrero.  He loved Puerto Rico and desired one day to return to his homeland.

He loved his family, especially his nieces and nephew.  Rafeal had a deep love for music and sports.  He was a number one fan of the Phillies.  He enjoyed drinking a good cup of coffee with his family while discussing the latest happenings in baseball or listening to some good “salsa dura” or “salsa vieja”.  He also loved to draw and was a very talented sketcher.

He attended the “Inter American University of Puerto Rico – Arecibo.  In the early 80’s he moved to Philadelphia, where he became a professional butcher, an occupation he held for more than 30 years.  Rafael is survived by his mother, Monserrate García; his stepfather, Saúl García; his sister, Idanisis Sadler and brother-in-law Keith; his brother Saul García Jr. and sister-in-law Linette; his three nieces, Ariellis, Kiara and Kayleen; his nephew, Andre; as well as extended family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Diego and Carme, and his brother, Marcos.
