Ways you can honor Jonathan's memory:
“Unable are the loved to die. For love is immortality.” – Emily Dickinson
My dad was a man of quiet strength and immense character. As a forklift mechanic for over 21 years, he wasn’t afraid to get his hands dirty to build a better life for us. He was driven by a powerful mission: to break the cycle of poverty and ensure his family had a foundation he never had. Everything he owned, he earned through decades of grit and hard work, and we are so proud of the legacy he built with his own two hands.
He wasn’t one for crowds or small talk, but if you were in his small circle, you had his total devotion. When the workday was over, Dad found his peace in the simple things. There was nothing he loved more than cracking open a cold beer, turning on the Food Network, and getting inspired to try a new recipe he’d just seen. Whether he was fixing an engine or experimenting in the kitchen, he was a creator at heart.
After losing his wife in 2011, Dad was lucky to have a devoted friend to spend his days with, but his greatest joy always remained his kids and his grandkids. He faced his battle with cancer with that same mechanic’s determination, and that was fighting hard and staying stubborn until his very last breath.
While our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing that his suffering is finally over. We like to imagine him now, free of pain, having a drink and catching up with his wife and parents. Dad, thank you for your hard work, your quiet love, and for showing us what it means to never give up. You were loved deeply, and you will be missed every single day!
