What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful longtime friend . I was introduced to Honey and Speed when I was 17 years old by my late husband John McGlone who was their childhood friend. I grew to love Honey . She became a wonderful role model demonstrating fabulous cooking and baking skills , home renovation and of course loving parenting skills including acceptance of all people. She welcomed people into her home with open arms. I will miss our conversations and lovely visits to the Lancaster garden shops. May she now rest in peace. ❤️

Helen would stop in at her grand daughters work bringing yummy baked goods for the office. She was a very sweet lady.

Helen "Honey" Lack, a spirited soul whose love for the great outdoors was matched only by her warmth and wisdom, peacefully departed on January 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years old. Born on November 15, 1939, Honey was a beacon of strength and compassion. Her life’s journey began in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, brought into the world by her late parents, Pellegrino and Helen Cascio. In 1956, she married her first love, Ronald “Speed” Lack, and together they embarked on a life filled with adventures, including living in Queens, raising four children on Long Island, and eventually embracing a quieter life in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. A true busy bee, Honey's passions were as diverse as they were inspiring. A devoted hiker, she found peace and forged profound friendships by exploring nature, traversing trails, and relishing the beauty of the outdoors. A talented baker, her kitchen was a place where delicious creations and heartfelt conversations could always be found. She also loved spending time gardening, crocheting, sharing spellbinding stories, and creating memories with her friends and family. Beyond her hobbies, Honey was known for her generous heart. She dedicated herself to various charitable causes, giving selflessly and embodying the true essence of altruism. Her positive outlook and unbreakable spirit never wavered, even in the face of adversity. When diagnosed with cancer in 2009, her concern for others often eclipsed her own needs, a lasting testament to her extraordinary character. Honey's impact was far-reaching, touching countless lives with her sage advice, selfless support, and tough love (when necessary). She was a cherished member of the Lancaster Liederkranz, American Legion Post 34, and a lifetime member of the Lancaster Hiking Club. Honey reunites with her beloved husband Ronald, and her dear sister Barbara “Bobby” Messina. She is survived by her brother William “Bill” Cascio of Arizona, her daughter Cynthia “Cindy” Lack of Lancaster, her daughter Rhonda Centrone of Florida, her son Ronald “Jay” Lack of Lancaster, and daughter Desiree Lack of Florida. Her legacy lives on through nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild on the way. A celebration of Honey's life will be held in the Spring, honoring her vibrant spirit and cherished memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Breast Cancer Foundation. Fly high, Honey Bee – and thank you for making our lives so much sweeter.
